Kanto Lampo Waterfall is located in Kaliasem Lingk.Kelod Kangin of Beng Village in Kabupaten Gianyar region of Bali in Indonesia.

History of Kanto Lampo Waterfall

Kanto Lampo Waterfall is known as Air Terjun Kanto Lampo in Bahasa Indonesian language. The waterfall was first discovered centuries ago by the villagers residing in Kelod Kangin, Beng village of Gianyar region, that was made from water erosion forming a group of spectacular limestone rock formation. The Kanto Lampo waterfall receives its name from Kanto Lampo fruit, a rare fruit which is only found near the surroundings of the waterfall. The fruit is often found being dispersed into the river naturally thus giving the waterfall its name. Kanto Lampo has now become famous spot among toursits who come all the way across the seas to have a beautiful glimpse of this natural wonder.

Beji Kanto Lampo Temple is located near to the waterfall, which performs religious ceremonies such as Ngaben ( A Balinese Hindu funeral ritual) , Dewa Yadnya (Hyang Widhi Wasa) along with Tri Sandya (3 times daily prayer), and Muspa (offering ritual to the supreme god). It is often recommended to maintain decorum within the surroundings of the waterfall to ensure the divine sanctity is not defiled.

Note: Even if the water is clean for swimming, it is not recommended to drink from it.

How to reach the Waterfall

The Kanto Lampo Waterfall is surrounded by tropical green vegetation with the peaceful sound of the waterfall that bounces off the terrace formation of each rock making it the perfect getaway location from the noisy city life.

Distance from Ubud

It is particularly easy to reach the location which is 15 KM away and is a minimal drive of 25-30 minutes from Ubud by car. Ubud is another popular destination in the town of Bali which is known for relaxing retreats and spiritual temples spread across.

Distance From Denpasar

The waterfall can also be reached by taking car from Denpasar which is about 43 kilometers and be covered almost in an hour to reach the waterfall. Denpasar is known as the provincial capital of Bali, known for its historical and cultural significance.

Distance from Kuta and Seminyak

The drive can take anywhere from 1 to 1.5 hours as the distance is around 35 KM to the waterfall. Kuta is known for it local street markets and hand-crafted materials meanwhile Seminyak is known for its high-end boutiques and nomads who prefer more luxury and comfort.

Distance from Nasa Dua

The distance from Nasa Dua to the Kanto Lampo waterfall is 45 KM, which can take around 2 hours to reach. Nasa Dua is known for for its water activities such as snorkeling and surfing.

Note: The conditions of the road and traffic can cause certain unpredictability of time on reaching the waterfall, therefore it is recommended to leave early in the morning.

What to expect from the waterfall

After reaching the Kanto Lampo waterfall, one can expect to see lush green vegetation in and around of the location. You will seen two shrines that are located one on the left and one on the right of the opening of a small cave near the valley. The large limestones rock formations promises you a mesmerizing memorable adventure. The entry fee of the Kanto Lampo Waterfall is around IDR 20,000 per person with a parking fee of IDR 6,000.
