Trump dares the NY Judge to put him in Jail time

Trump and his lawyer against the NY Judge

As Donald Trump prepared to testify in the civil fraud trial that could devastate his business empire, he and his lawyers devised a strategy based on spite and unbridled antagonism. According to two people familiar with the situation and another who has been briefed on Team Trump’s legal strategies, the former president and his lawyers intend to deliberately provoke the judge into a nuclear-level overreaction.

On Monday, they appeared to be carrying out the plan. ex-president dodged questions and ranted about “haters” on the witness stand, prompting Judge Arthur Engoron to scold him repeatedly and pressure the former president’s attorneys to rein him in.

Engoron’s explosive response could include remanding ex-president to a jail cell for the night. The judge in the case had already issued ex-president a gag order, warning him not to attack the judge’s staff. The order was expanded late last week to include Trump’s attorneys. Trump has shown a brazen willingness to violate it on numerous occasions. And, as strange as it may sound, Trump’s attorneys and political advisers have told him that a “remand order” putting him in custody for repeatedly violating the judge’s rulings might be a good thing – both legally and politically.

According to news source, ex-president has asked his legal advisers if the judge would or could go so far as to send him to jail for a short period of time. ex-president has been told that such an order is unlikely, though Engoron has publicly stated that it is an option. This is one of the reasons Trump and his advisers have maintained their audacious strategy of infuriating a judge who has openly threatened the former president with jail time.
