Las Vegas Grand Prix 2023 starts off bumby

Las Vegas Grand Prix didn’t start too well on Thursday night has the crew had to face many problems.

After many decades Formula One’s first Las Vegas Grand Prix did not get off on a good note on Thursday night. During the first practice session, a drain cover had come loose just within 10 minutes which caused serious damage to Carlos Sainz’ Ferrari.

First practice session gets cancelled:

The first Free Practice 1 was cancelled as a result after 9 minutes on track after which Free Practice 2 was postponed to 2 a.m. local time and had extended to 90 minutes after which the staff and crew had fixed some issues on track. Unfortunately, the fans were not allowed back on the stadium for the second session.

Sainz was given a 10-spot penalty for the race after Ferrari had a significant repairs to his car.

The sporting integrity of Las Vegas Grand Prix:

A statement was made from the Formula 1 CEO Stefano Domenicali and Las Vegas Grand Prix CEO Renee Wilm about the multiple problems which they had face on the track, which also caused the session to stop due to a water valve cover which had broken on Las Vegas Boulevard.

The Free Practice 2 decision was made after the confirmation of all parties involved in the Las Vegas Grand Prix supported in favor of running the session which would ensure the sporting integrity of the event.
