Puffed rice is a very simple snack to make, and it also helps in save money as we don’t have to purchase pre-packaged ones. So let’s dig straight into making it as this would be the best thing you have learned!

It is common and we feel it is easier to buy products from the supermarket or the grocery store as we try to avoid the complication of making things by ourselves, but imagine making puffed rice all by yourself, definitely not as easy as it seems but most definitely satisfying.

The 4 easy steps of making puffed rice at home:

Wash the rice

Rice has a low amount of moisture within it which makes rice the perfect component for swelling. It is suggested to let the rice rest in the water for approximately 10–15 minutes and simultaneously try to wash the rice and make sure the water is clear and that it is not left out with impurities.

Boil the rice

Fill up a saucepan with some water and bring it to heat, once you start seeing the bubbles in the water you can add the soaked rice to it and do not worry about any instructions that are given on the package of the rice since the main aim is to let get the rice over-cooked. During this process, it is necessary to add salt to your taste. Once the rice absorbs all the water in the saucepan, turn off the heat.

Drying the rice

Once the rice is cooked, it is necessary to spread out the cooked rice on a thin linen or absorbent paper. If you want to dry it faster, it is best to bake it in an oven for 4.5 hours at 50 degrees Celsius.

Cooking the rice

Once the rice is dry, it is time to cook the rice into amazing puffed rice, add your choice of oil or butter on a tray and spread it evenly after which you can add the rice to the tray as well. Slide in the tray in the preheated oven for 2 hours at a temperature of 50 degrees Celsius. Once it is done, let the puffed rice cool down and enjoy it with your choice of condiments.
